The Heroine's Geeky Faves: May 7th, 2012
Here are my Geeky Faves! (Be sure to check out my last Geeky Faves from April)
One of my childhood friends works for Reading is Fundamental. This video is part of their campaign to get books into the hands of children.
One of my favorite songs right now is "Hey Ho" from The Lumineers

Extra Ordinary is a web comic that kept me giggling one night. I love the sense of humor and, well, there is a kitty. So, yes, this is something that I would totally like. I love seeing how art progresses in web comics. The few color comics she does are quite beautiful.
Nerd Girl Problems tumblr is another thing that has me laughing out loud, especially the ones about books. They are fun to scroll through so bookmark these things. Or you will become sucked into a black hole and end up with tears on your cheeks.
Zen Pencils helped lift my spirit. I feel like having prints of these plastered on my walls and to make a point of reading them every morning. Go and be lifted!

Neil Gaiman does an interview with Stephen King My favorite quote from this is: “I never think of stories as made things; I think of them as found things. As if you pull them out of the ground, and you just pick them up. Someone once told me that that was me low-balling my own creativity. That might or might not be the case. But still, on the story I am working on now, I do have some unresolved problem. It doesn’t keep me awake at nights. I feel like when it comes down, it will be there..."
The Most Honorable of Mentions:
It has been a Joss Whedon filled month! I'm a big fan of his work with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse, and Firefly Serenity (I mean, I do have a Kaylee costume). I picked up a Serenity and Buffy comic this weekend at Free Comic Book Day so I was quite thrilled. I loved The Cabin in the Woods and had a fun time at The Avengers. I've read Joss's work in comics, and know his writing skills well, so I knew that he would to a fantastic job. I'm happy that non-fans are able to see his caring for these characters while giving us the action punch. If you haven't seen The Avengers, or The Cabin in the Woods, both are out in theaters now. His shows listed above are also available on Netflix. Go, go, go!
What I'm Looking Forward to Next:
The Fierce Reads Tour that will roll into San Diego in June. I'll be reading the books already out and the others as they do. I think I can get used to going to these events!
